Women’s Health
Overall, women are more sensitive their issues than are men. Women struggle with appearance, being accepted for who they are, weight, divorce, losing their job, losing or departure of a child, sexual abuse and depression. There are also the issues that only women would experience such as infertility, post partum depression, hormonal imbalances and pregnancy. These issues can unfortunately lead women to substance abuse. Women will use drugs or alcohol for different reasons than men. Studies show that women have more situations in their lives that will set off drug abuse. These studies have proven that women are more likely to use drugs followed by a crisis than men. Some women believe taking drugs will help to lose weight, increase their confidence, eliminate depression, improve their mood or reduce their sexual inhibitions. They don’t realize that self-medicating will most likely end up making them feel more depressed and worse off in the long run.
