Guardian Behavioral Health’s “Party for a Purpose”

On May 25, 2016, Guardian Behavioral Health Foundation launched its “Party for a Purpose” initiative. The fundraising event coincided with Mental Health Awareness Month. The organization raised more than $2,500 at Chima Brazilian Steakhouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Since 1949, May has been known as Mental Health Awareness Month and serves to raise awareness of the realities of mental health. The aim of Mental Health Awareness Month is to destigmatize mental illness and acknowledge how it affects many people. It also serves to inform others that help is available through treatment.

Guardian Behavioral Health Foundation is a nonprofit that provides economic assistance to those with a mental illness who have difficulty affording or cannot afford treatment. An estimated one in three families affected by mental illness cannot afford adequate treatment. Guardian Behavioral Health hosts several events throughout the year to benefit the foundation so they can continue giving back to the community.
