Vicodin Drug Rehab

What is Vicodin?

Vicodin Drug RehabVicodin is the brand name of a group of narcotic opiate-based painkillers comprised of both acetaminophen and hydrocodone.  It is prescribed for the treatment of moderate to severe acute or short-term pain and normally administered in tablet form.  The individual’s body and mind are both affected by Vicodin, but there is a high potential for lethal side effects when taken continually for recreational reasons.  When it is abused continually like this, addiction oftentimes results and the individual who is taking it can be hurt for long periods of time.

As of 2009, the DEA has categorized Vicodin in the prescription drug threat category and part of the listing of all the primary drug threats in the US today.  It is highly addictive and can cause an immense strain on a person’s body.  Serious illnesses and even death can occur with continued use of the drug.  Because of how Vicodin weakens a person’s immune system, the body eventually stops trying to overcome the effects of the drug.  This not only emphasizes the severity of its affects on the body.  As a result, Vicodin abuse and addiction now poses a major public health threat in the US.

The need for Vicodin drug rehab programs

As a result of the above, there are numerous Vicodin drug rehab programs being offered at many addiction treatment and recovery programs throughout the US.  As was previously mentioned, addiction to Vicodin is now considered a serious public health threat.  Cases involving serious illnesses that are Vicodin related are being reported annually.  Additionally, the number of deaths associated with Vicodin overdose is growing annually as well.

With the advent of Vicodin drug rehab programs, it is possible to overcome addiction to this drug if you can find the right addiction treatment and recovery program to enter.  What has made matters worse is that the number of addicted women has increased due to the pressures of their everyday lives.  More women than ever before are now being forced to enter the work force because of the economy, especially when they are single mothers who are raising children at home.

The unfortunate part is that the majority of the Vicodin drug rehab programs being offered today are being used to treat men and women alike.  Addiction affects women differently than men.  There are different health threats with women, and in most cases, these addictions progress differently for women than men.  Finally, there are significant emotional issues related to the onset of a woman’s addiction that is not evidenced that often in men.  Our Vicodin drug rehab programs at our women’s facility target the specific needs of women.  For more information regarding our addiction treatment programs for women please contact us at the toll-free phone number listed at the top of this page.
