Marijuana Drug Rehab

Is marijuana a drug and public health threat?

Marijuana Drug RehabThere are many individuals today that would say “yes” and just as many that would say “no” in answer to that question.  Despite the fact that marijuana distribution and trafficking throughout the US is a critical focus of the DEA and what they perceive to be a primary drug threat, it is not the powerfully addictive drug that cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine is.  It is not only used recreationally, it is now a prescribed medication for cancer and glaucoma patients as well as having other applications.

Still, the use of marijuana in the US is a concern of both the DEA and public health officials.  As the population in the country grows, so does the use of marijuana recreationally.  You can argue that it does not display the addictive qualities of other substances and then you can argue that it creates a physical and psychological dependence as well.  In any event, there has been an increase in the past two decades of marijuana drug rehab programs in the numerous addiction treatment and recovery facilities throughout the US.

3 myths about marijuana

There are numerous myths about marijuana and the following are the top 3:

  1. You could wind up with permanent mental damage from smoking marijuana – it does alter your judgment and thought processes, but it will not cause permanent mental damage or illness
  2. Getting addicted to marijuana is impossible – although marijuana is not the powerfully addictive substance that cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamines are, you can still get addicted to it.  Why else would there be a need for marijuana drug rehab programs?
  3. Marijuana is completely harmless – believe it or not, you can encounter harm when you smoke marijuana because it may lead to potentially harmful behavior

Marijuana addiction in women

What you need to realize is that any substance addiction is not age, economic, gender, or race-specific.  Addictions happen to individuals from all walks of life.  Many women today have gotten addicted to marijuana because of the stresses they encounter in their everyday lives.  With more women in the workplace and more single mothers having to work and raise children, there are added pressures that women didn’t experience in the past.  These added pressures oftentimes lead a woman to seek an escape from the reality of their lives.  So they turn to both alcohol and drugs.

We have marijuana drug rehab programs for women only

We developed our addiction treatment and recovery programs for women only because of the significant differences (other than physiological) between men and women.  Women have different health challenges when they get addicted to certain substances and their addictions don’t always progress in the same way they do with men.  For more information regarding our marijuana drug rehab programs for women please contact us at the toll-free phone number listed at the top of this page.
