Crack Drug Rehab

What is “crack”?

Crack Drug Rehab“Crack” is the street name that has been given to a lower-purity type of cocaine that is typically smoked in order to achieve the desired effects of it.  The impurity that exists is comes from the sodium bicarbonate which is usually used in the production of this form of cocaine.  Just like the powder form of the drug, crack cocaine is extremely addictive and it considered as being one of the primary drug threats in the US today, according to a 2009 DEA report published at the end of that year.

Additionally, there are millions of annually reported medical cases and serious illnesses that are associated with the abuse of crack cocaine.  So the drug is considered a major public health threat as well based on documented cases of overdose and deaths resulting from that.  The name “crack” originated from the sound that the drug makes when you are smoking it due to the impurities in it.

Crack addiction and women

Although addiction to any substance affects men and women alike, there are certain issues behind a woman’s addiction that we typically don’t find in men.  Women have different challenges such as raising children as a single parent and being the only wage earner in the home (more women are in the workforce today than ever before).  We have also found that 70% of women overall who are suffering with substance addictions have suffered physical and/or sexual abuse in the past.

Additionally, many of them have past family histories involving alcohol and drug abuse.  This is not to say that men’s addictions are not always related to these issues, it’s just that they are much more prevalent with women.  As you can see, women’s addictions to any substance involve functioning as a caregiver, mother, or partner.  It has also been realized that addicted women typically succumb to financial and otherwise dependent relationships.  Addiction oftentimes affects those women in other unique ways such as childcare issues or certain stigma as well as other issues which are socioeconomic in nature.

Crack drug rehab for women

Where crack drug rehab programs for women are concerned, the above information comes into play in order to prescribe the best program for women on an individual basis.  Their addictions usually progress at a different pace and require different treatment and recovery approaches.  Although it is entirely possible for women to undergo crack drug rehab and recover successfully, our very successful treatment and recovery programs employ the support of numerous individuals.

Supportive individuals usually include the woman’s family members, loved ones, and significant others. Additionally, the support from our crack drug rehab program and their communities play significant roles as well.  For more information regarding our crack drug rehab programs for women please contact us at the toll-free phone number listed at the top of this page.
